SCCL Relocated to Ministry of Education's office in Balestier
In December 2025, the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) officially bid farewell to Ghim Moh Road and move to the Ministry of Education (MOE)'s headquarters office in Balestier.
The "Journal of Chinese Language Education" Included in CSSCI (2025-2026) Extended Edition
The "Journal of Chinese Language Education" (JCLE) has been officially included in the CSSCI (2025-2026) Extended Edition after a rigorous evaluation process.
2025 MOE-NIE-SEAB-SCCL Sharing Forum
On 22 July 2025, the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) jointly organised the annual MOE-NIE-SEAB-SCCL Sharing Forum with the Asian Languages and Cultures Academic Group at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University.
Mr Chou Yung-Shan Conducted Sharing Sessions at SCCL
On 6 August 2025, the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) and Zhong Hua Cultural Society (Singapore) (ZHCSS) invited Mr Chou Yung-Shan from Taiwan to give a talk titled "Lighting the Lamp Within: The Essential Role of Educators in the Age of AI".
Dr Nan Zhiguo Conducted a Xinyao-Themed Sharing Session at SCCL
The Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) was honoured to invite Dr Nan Zhiguo to conduct a hybrid sharing session titled "Xinyao: From Stage to Classroom" on 3 Sep 2025.
SCCL collaborated with CDAC to organise An Engaging Parent-Child Workshop
On 27 September 2025, multiple families gathered at the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) centre in Ang Mo Kio for the "Let's Play – Chinese Characters Are Fun!" Parent-Child workshop: Learning Through Play.
SCCL Staff Invited as Speaker
On 27 September 2025, Dr Cheng Wan-Ni, Dean of Early Childhood Care and Education of SCCL, was invited to deliver a keynote speech titled "Contemplating the Roots of Story, Walking the Path of Culture: Local Picture Books and the Imagination of Preschool Chinese Education in Singapore" at the 2025 Singapore Early Childhood Education Chinese Symposium. On 1 November 2025, Master Teacher Dr Chau Sook Kuan, SCCL Deputy Dean of Curriculum, was invited to deliver a talk titled "Beginning from the Heart: Supporting Psychological Needs to Foster Motivation in Chinese Language Learning", as part of the "In Class with the Masters 2025" Lecture Series.
New Staff
Dr Cheong Yun Yee, PhD in Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment from University College London, is currently a lecturer at SCCL. Her research interests include language testing and assessment, reading instruction and curriculum, Sinophone literature, and translation studies. Ms Su Zhili, Master in Teaching Chinese as an International Language from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University, is currently serve as Research Associates at SCCL.
