Publication Ethics Statement
Publication Ethics Statement
The Journal of Chinese Language Education (JCLE) is a fully-refereed biannual academic journal. Established in 2003, it is published by the Singapore Chinese Teachers' Union (SCTU) and the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL). It is a highly recognised educational journal in Singapore.
JCLE focuses mainly on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language but also covers fields related to Chinese language teaching, such as linguistics, literature, psychology, cognitive science, and translation studies.
This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of the authors, peer reviewers and editors in the journal publishing process. JCLE adopts the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Author's Responsibilities
- The author is fully accountable for the materials, ideas, and information presented in the submitted manuscript.
- The author holds the responsibility to ensure the accuracy, originality and integrity of the content of the submitted work, and to ensure that it is free from plagiarism.
- The author is responsible to ensure that no material submitted as part of the manuscript infringes existing copyrights, or the rights of a third party.
- The author is responsible to ensure that the manuscript has not been published or simultaneously submitted to any other journal or publisher. Any manuscript, or substantial parts of it, submitted to JCLE must not be under consideration by any other journal or publisher.
Peer Reviewer's Responsibilities
- The reviewer must give unbiased consideration to each manuscript submitted and keep the review process confidential.
- The reviewer should affirm all potential conflicting interests and seek advice from JCLE if they are unsure whether something constitutes a relevant interest.
- The reviewer should be constructive and specific in their review, and provide feedback with evidence and references.
Editors' Responsibilities
- The editors hold the responsibility to reject or accept a manuscript by following JCLE's editorial guidelines.
- The editors should fairly review submitted manuscripts, evaluating each one based on its quality, without regard to the authors' race, gender, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
- The editors should not disclose any information about a manuscript being reviewed.
- The editors should ensure that the submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by suitably qualified double-blind peer reviewers and keep the review process confidential.
