The Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) successfully held the unveiling ceremony of its new premises on 25 March 2026 at 565 Balestier Road.

"Story Writing Competition on Singapore Chinese Culture" Result Announcement
The results of the "Story Writing Competition on Singapore Chinese Culture" have been announced on the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) Website. The competition was jointly organised by the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language and the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC). The Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) is the supporting organiser.
"2026 National Preschool Teaching Aids Competition — Picture Book × Board Game Edition" Concludes Successfully
The Singapore Centre for Chinese Language successfully held the finals of the 2026 National Preschool Teaching Aids Competition — Picture Book × Board Game Edition on 28 March 2026.
Associate Professor Leung Wai-Mun from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Delivered an Academic Lecture at SCCL
On the afternoon of 2 January 2026, Assoc Prof Leung Wai-Mun from the Department of Language Science and Technology at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University visited the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language and delivered an academic lecture titled "Discovery and Research on Early Chinese Textbooks in Singapore: The Three-Phase Transformation from Overseas Chinese Textbooks to National Textbooks".
Book Launch of "I Want My Farty Reindeer!"
The Singapore Centre for Chinese Language hosted the launch of its latest original picture book "I Want My Farty Reindeer!" on 13 December 2025, drawing strong participation from parents, educators, and media.
2026 National Vlog Competition for Singapore Primary School Students
The "2026 National Vlog Competition for Singapore Primary School Students", jointly organised by the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language and the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, will be opened for registration on 11 May 2026.
SCCL Staff Invited as Speaker
Dr Cheng Wan-Ni, SCCL Dean of Early Childhood Care and Education, was invited to deliver a keynote at the "Let Children Become the Sun — 2025 International Academic Conference" hosted by Soochow University from 1-2 November 2025. She delivered a keynote presentation titled "Child Culture Design × 5E Framework: Creating a Reading Universe that Supports Child Agency". On 15 November, Dr Cheng was invited to participate in the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) Family Reading Carnival, organised by CDAC, conducting Chinese storytelling sessions and guiding parents in supporting their children's reading development. Dr Cheng was also invited to present her paper at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Child in the World of Culture: Values and Meanings" hosted by Southern Federal University in Russia from 19-21 February 2026. Dr Cheng delivered her paper, "Reimagining Santa Claus in a Tropical Asian City: Cultural Codes of Childhood in Singapore Picture Books", online.
SCCL Activity
On 9 February 2026, the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language held its Chinese New Year celebration and Staff Bonding Session.
