2026 National Vlog Competition for Singapore Primary School Students

The "2026 National Vlog Competition for Singapore Primary School Students", jointly organised by the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) and the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC), co-organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies (NP HMIS) and supported by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) and 8world News, will be opened for registration on 11 May 2026. The objective of the competition is to improve the oral expression ability of primary school students and encourage students to develop a spirit of collaboration and a love for Chinese Language.

To better support teachers in guiding students' participation, an online briefing and seminar was conducted on 15 April 2026 in collaboration with NP HMIS on 15 April 2026. Ms Tiong Shiuan Shiuan (NP HMIS Senior Lecturer) and Ms Tarin Teo (NP HMIS Lecturer) shared with teachers on the techniques for short film framing, storyboarding, recording and body language, using the award-winning works from 2024.

The session also featured insights from renowned local documentary filmmaker Mr Ong Kah Jing, who shared his expertise in storytelling through documentary filmmaking. Drawing on his extensive experience, he provided valuable tips on "How to Inspire Students' Confidence and Motivation in Filmmaking."

The theme of the competition is "Bring Textbook Characters to Life...". Primary Three to Six students are invited to form teams of 2 to 4 to participate. Interested students may submit their entries through their school teachers. The submission deadline is 5pm sharp, Friday, 26 June 2026.
