Unveiling Ceremony of the New SCCL Premises on Balestier Road
The Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) successfully held the unveiling ceremony of its new premises on 25 March 2026 at 565 Balestier Road.
SCCL was honoured by the presence of Ms Beatrice Chong, Deputy Director-General of Education (Professional Development), Ministry of Education, and her colleagues from Curriculum Planning and Development Division (CPDD) (Mother Tongue Languages Branch), Educational Technology Division (ETD), and Planning Division (PLD) (Education Policy Branch). Also attending the ceremony were distinguished guests from the Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST), Malay Language Centre of Singapore (MLCS), Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre (UPTLC), Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB), Confucius Institute, Nanyang Technological University (CI-NTU), and the National Institute of Education (NIE).
The event commenced with an opening address by Mr Sng Chern Wei, Chairman of SCCL Board of Trustees, followed by a welcome speech by Dr Foo Suan Fong, SCCL Executive Director. They then jointly unveiled SCCL's new signboard. After the ceremony, guests toured SCCL's facilities and gained a deeper insight into its daily work in Chinese language teaching and research.
With the new space and resources, SCCL will continue to pursue its core teaching and training objectives and conduct quality courses and professional development activities.
