Mother Tongue Languages Symposium 2021

 

          The 10th Mother Tongue Languages Symposium was held on 28th August 2021. The theme of this year is "Our Mother Tongues as Living Languages". Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) participated in this annual event as a community partner. The centre introduced the "Vocabulary" mobile phone application developed by SCCL and two teaching toolkits - "Techniques to Enhance the Teaching and Learning of Text-paragraph Writing" and "Singapore Primary Chinese Vocabulary Revision and Consolidation Toolkit".

          At the same time, the centre also exhibited the "Creative Lion" Illustrated Graded Book Series and "New Stars Island" Graded Picture Book Series, introduced the related reading activities, and also shared on how to use "New Stars Island" Graded Picture Book Series as teaching materials.

          Master Teacher Mdm Min Yu delivered a speech on "Home Based Learning: Using Metacognitive Strategies to Cultivate Learner's Self-Directed Learning Ability". The sharing session aimed to help participants understand how to use metacognitive learning strategies to teach students to plan, monitor and regulate their own language learning, gradually cultivate the ability of independent learning.
