SCCL organised a training course for Heartware Network

Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) recently organised the "Contrastive Analysis of English and Chinese and Its Application in Translation" training course for Heartware Network, a voluntary organisation focusing on youth work promotion. The training course was conducted on 28 and 29 September 2021, and was attended by 7 members from Heartware Network.

Dr Zhang Limei, Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs, was the lecturer for this course. The course covered fundamental principles of translation, as well as similarities and differences between grammatical structures, sentence structures and translation strategies of English and Chinese. As part of the course, Dr Zhang also shared various examples of English-Chinese translation to help participants gain a better understanding of both languages.

Although the course was conducted online due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, it did not affect the participants' enthusiasm for learning. Both our lecturer and the participants engaged actively during discussions. At the end of the course, the participants each received an e-certificate of achievement.
