The 6th International Conference on Teaching and Learning of Chinese as a Second Language (TLCSL)
To promote research in the teaching and learning of Chinese as a second language and to facilitate the application of research findings in practice, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) held the 6th International Conference on Teaching and Learning of Chinese as a Second Language (TLCSL) from 8 to 9 September 2020. The theme of the Conference theme was "Inheriting the past, leading the future: The trends and prospective developments of teaching and learning of Chinese as a second language".
"National Creative Story Writing Competition for Secondary Students" Award Presentation Ceremony cum Launching of the Chinese Graded Readers
The "National Creative Story Writing Competition for Secondary Students" Award Presentation Ceremony cum Launching of the Chinese Graded Readers was held on 10 October 2020. The event was held online due to the Covid-19 precautionary measures.
2020 National Preschool Teaching Aid Competition - Creative Tabletop Activity
In order to encourage Singapore's early childhood educators, students, parents and members of the public to creatively incorporate lively ideas into their teaching, the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) launched the "2020 National Preschool Teaching Aid Competition - Creative Tabletop Activity" on 1 June 2019. The objective is to enable pre-schoolers to learn Chinese in a fertile environment, thus contributing to Singapore early childhood education.
2020 E-Mother Tongue Languages Symposium
Singapore Centre for Chinese Language participated as a community partner in the 2020 e-Mother Tongue Languages Symposium. The theme of the symposium was "Flourish in our Mother Tongue Languages Wonderland".
SCCL Staff Invited as Speakers
SCCL Lecturer Dr Fan Jinghua was invited as a keynote speaker for "The Third International Conference on the Humanistic Foundation and Cross-cultural Understanding of Sino-American Relations" held online from 15 to 16 August 2020. Dr Fan was also a keynote speaker for "North 4 COL Online STP Sharing on Chinese Teaching" held online on 2 Nov 2020. Master Teacher Mdm Zheng Yingjiang was invited as a guest speaker for the "Thumbs Up Little Junior" Children's Rhymes Creation and Performance Final Award Ceremony online on 12 Sep 2020.
