New Staff
1. Dr Jiao Fuzhen

Dr Jiao Fuzhen was appointed as a Master Teacher for Chinese language in January 2023 and has since joined Singapore Centre for Chinese Language. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Education) Degree in Chinese Language with first class honour from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and a Master of Education (Chinese Language) Degree as well as a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree in Research from the same university. She was also a recipient of the Dr Wu Teh Yao Book Prize.
During her 14-year tenure at Rulang Primary School, Dr Jiao served as a Chinese Teacher, then Senior Teacher and Lead Teacher. She was the recipient of the 2021 Distinguished Chinese Language Teachers Awards. As a teacher leader, she was committed to enhancing the professional competence of fellow teachers. Dr Jiao firmly believes that the quality of the education system depends on the quality of teachers. In her new role, she hopes to be able to lead more Chinese language teachers to explore new teaching methods so as to ensure Chinese language education will keep up with the times and to enable students to enjoy learning and using the Chinese language.
2. Mdm Yang Xue Hui

Mdm Yang Xue Hui was appointed as a Master Teacher for Chinese Language in January 2023, and has since joined Singapore Centre for Chinese Language. She graduated with a Degree in Bachelor of Arts from Beijing Normal University, and obtained her Master's Degree in Education (Chinese Language) from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Mdm Yang has over 15 years of experience as a Chinese Language Teacher, then Senior Teacher and Lead Teacher at Xingnan Primary School. Mdm Yang hopes to work with fellow educators to come up with Chinese language pedagogies tailored to the needs of students in the current educational landscape of Singapore. She wishes to inspire fellow Chinese language educators to rigorously improve their teaching effectiveness in creative ways so as to instil in students a love of learning Chinese language.
3. Ms Sim Hui Yin

Ms Sim Hui Yin was seconded from the Ministry of Education (MOE) in January 2023 and has since joined the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) as a Special Project Officer. Prior to the secondment, Ms Sim was Head of Department for Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) and Year Head at Anderson Secondary School and Northland Secondary School respectively. Ms Sim also had experience with staff professional learning during her stint as Senior CCE Officer at the Student Development Curriculum Division, CCE Branch, MOE.
Ms Sim graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from National University of Singapore, and a Diploma in Education from National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She was awarded the Inspiring Chinese Teacher Award in 2010.
Ms Sim has 17 years of teaching experience. She taught Chinese language and Chinese literature, and was the driver for Student Leadership, Character and Citizenship Programme in schools. Ms Sim aspires to capitalise on her diverse experiences in schools and the MOE Headquarters to bring about positive changes in SCCL.
