Singapore Centre for Chinese Language, together with Singapore Chinese Teachers' Union and Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of Humanities & Social Sciences, will be organising the 7th International Conference on Teaching and Learning of Chinese as a Second Language cum the 11th International Forum on Chinese Language Education.
2023 National Vlog Competition for Singapore Primary School Students
The "2023 National Vlog Competition for Singapore Primary School Students", co-organised by Singapore Centre for Chinese Language and Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning and supported by Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of Humanities and Social Sciences, 8world News and Wan Qing Yuan - Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, was open for registration on 20 February 2023.
SCCL Organised Training Courses for the President University in Indonesia
Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) conducted a series of online courses on Chinese Culture and Social Etiquette for 20 lecturers from the President University in Indonesia from January to February 2023.
SCCL visited four schools in Brunei
From January 10 to 13, 2023, a delegation of Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) visited four schools in Brunei. The four schools were, namely, Chung Hwa Middle School, Chung Ching Middle School, Tutong Chung Hwa School and Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
SCCL Staff Invited as Speakers
Singapore Chinese Language Center (SCCL) Executive Director Dr Foo Suan Fong, lecturers Dr Li Li, and Dr Gong Cheng were invited to present at the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative entitled "TCS/FL Education in the U.S.- Glocalization and Cooperation" Conference on 7 and 8 January, 2023. Dr Foo was also invited as a speaker at the "Looking Ahead: New Technology, New Society, and Chinese Language Education in Singapore" round table discussion.
Activities in SCCL
Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) organised a Chinese New Year Celebration on 1 February 2023.
New Staff
Dr Jiao Fuzhen and Mdm Yang Xue Hui were appointed as a Master Teacher for Chinese language in January 2023 and have since joined Singapore Centre for Chinese Language. Ms Sim Hui Yin was seconded from the Ministry of Education (MOE) in January 2023 and has since joined the SCCL as a Special Project Officer.
