SCCL's 2nd series of lectures in 2012 was offered to the public on 21st July 2012. The themes of the lectures are the paradigms of Chinese Language teaching and the application of information and communication technology in Chinese Language teaching in the Singapore Context. The lectures were given by Prof. Guo Xi from Jinan University, Guangzhou, PRC, and Mr. Tseng Jr-Shi from Lu Feng Technology Inc, Taiwan. About 130 school teachers and interested persons attended the lectures.

Prof. Guo Xi offered his expert insights in Chinese language teaching and highlighted the issue of diversity in paradigms of Chinese language teaching in Singapore. He suggested that, in view of the current context of Chinese language teaching in Singapore, educators should employ varied approaches in their teaching in order to achieve better results.

Mr. Tseng Jr-Shi shared his views on how educators and parents could use the "Animation & 5Q-Book with Simplified Chinese and Hanyu Pinyin" platform to sparkle students' interest in learning Chinese and to provide students with an environment where they can immerse themselves in the learning of Chinese idioms.By thus stimulating students' learning motive, an environment conducive to the learning of Chinese language can be created and significantly expanded, and ultimately the goal of improving the children's proficiency in Chinese language can be achieved, Mr Tseng observed.

Participants of the talks were given a 30-day trial membership card for access to the animated reading web which contains all the materials on the "Animation & 5Q-Book with Simplified Chinese and Hanyu Pinyin" platform presented in Mr Tseng's lecture.
