Enhancing Formative Assessment of Chinese Teaching with ICT

Course Overview

This course combines the use of ICT with various common formative assessment tools so as to demonstrate how to conduct formative evaluation with ICT and integrate such as process into learning activities. It aims to provide teachers with an example of a practical and effective mode of operation.

Course Objective

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the meaning and key characteristics of "formative assessment".
  • Aware of the potential difficulties in implementing formative assessment and their possible solutions.

  • Conduct data collection for assessments with ICT tools.

  • Analyze the correlation between data and students' learning outcomes.
  • The operation of a learning management platform for the implementation of formative assessment.

Course Content

The course covers the following topics:

  • Difficulties and possible solutions in implementing formative assessment in Chinese language teaching.
  • The use of  ICT for the construction of an learning  environment that facilitates formative assessment and continuous tracking of learners' progress.
  • The use of immediate feedback in formative assessment to strengthen Chinese listening skills.
  • The use of immediate feedback in formative assessment to enhance Chinese listening and speaking proficiency.
  • How data collected by ICT can improve learning outcomes.
  • How to operate a learning management platform for the implementation of formative assessment .
