This course trains primary school teachers to guide and support parents and children in engaging in Chinese language learning together, improving the home language environment and the effectiveness of parent-child reading. Through explanations of activity design principles, demonstrations of practical examples, provision of resource packages, and hands-on practice, participants will be able to:

• Understand the design principles and implementation methods of programs aimed at enhancing the Chinese language environment at home
• Guide and assist parents in selecting suitable activities based on their own Chinese language proficiency and interests
• Understand Dialogic Reading techniques
• Guide and assist parents in implementing Dialogic Reading activities

This course trains primary school teachers to guide and support parents in building a home Chinese language environment and conducting parent-child reading. The course covers the following
• Design principles of a weekly home Chinese language plan, helping teachers understand its structure and rationale
• Introduction to a sample weekly resource package and guidance on adapting it to meet needs before sharing with parents
• Principles and techniques of dialogic reading, enabling teachers to apply effective guidance strategies
• Discussion and practice in designing interactive reading activities, strengthening teachers’ ability to guide parents in implementation
