Abstract
Presenters will introduce the features of a task-based blended curriculum for learning Chinese. Presenters will also discuss the different kinds of abilities such as communicative skills, oral proficiency, meta-cognition and ICT capability that students need to develop in order to complete the ICT-based task. A 5-step communicative lesson sequence will be provided for developing mini lessons based on appropriateness and language usage of students. Presenters will offer strategies to recognize the difficulties and challenges in real life and problem solving. The different focuses of instructions and activities for in-class and online learning, and the strategies to facilitate self-directed learning will also be discussed. This session will be conducted with PowerPoint presentation, small group discussion and hands-on practice. The participants will be shown the functions and applications of podcasting via Moodle. The participants will have a deeper understanding on the concepts of blended course, and hence rethink and restructure their blended curriculum for language learning.
