By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1.Understand and apply the Close Reading method in Chinese language teaching to enhance students' critiical analytic skills.
2.Incorporated the relevant concepts of Systemic Functional grammar in closing reading of texts.
3.Apply the transactional theory in classroom discussions to enhance class interaction and to foster students' envisionment building.
4.Appropriately apply the different approaches to achieve different desired pedaogical objectives.
The course covers the following topics:
1.Literary texts in Higher Chinese Textbooks.
2.Closing Reading method and its application in Chinese language teaching.
3. Systematic Functional Grammar: relevent concepts use in corporation with Close Reading.
4. Langer's readers response theory of envisionment building and its application in the teaching of Chinese.
