After attending the course, participants will be able to:
1.Understand the common and different features between story and drama.
2.Understand the features of classroom drama, including setting, plot, characterization, action and dialogues, and character reflection in the drama.
3.Know some essential strategies to adapt a level-appropriate narrative text into a level-appropriate classroom drama.
4.Produce a draft of adaptation of a narrative text into classroom drama in a small group.
5.Grasp some basic rules to direct a classroom drama.
The content of the course includes the following:
1.The concept of storyline, plot and characterization.
2.The concept of dramatic situation, action and constructs of drama.
3.The rules of adaptation and strategies to dramatize.
4.The strategies to promote character reflections.
5.Group discussion and writing up of an adaptation draft of classroom drama based on a narrative text, and feedback on the adaptation.
6.The basic rules to direct a classroom drama.
