Objectives / Outcome of PD Activity


The Certificate in Teaching of Chinese aims to equip participants with relevant teaching and assessment strategies to teach Chinese Language more effectively and efficiently in the bilingual environment of Singapore.
Participants will be able to:
1. Master the principles of teaching Chinese as a second language in the context of Singapore.
1.1 Principle One for teaching Chinese as a second language: Constructivism.
1.2 Principle Two for teaching Chinese as a second language: Interactive Language Teaching.
1.3 Principle Three for teaching Chinese as a second language: Collaborative learning.
2. Apply and reflect the principles of teaching Chinese as a second language in practice.
2.1 Application of listening and speaking teaching strategies, examples and reflection.
2.2 Application of reading and writing teaching strategies, examples and reflection.


Course Content / Synopsis

The course includes the following:
1. The principles of teaching Chinese as a second language in the context of Singapore.
